Saint Quadratus, Bishop of Athens

Earliest of the Christian apologists, addressed his work to the emperor Hadrian (c. 124). The bulk of his apology is lost; a brief but striking fragment is preserved by Eusebius (Ecclesiastical History 4.3), in which Quadratus appeals to eyewitnesses of Christ's miracles who were still alive within living memory.
