Gallic Christian writer; disciple of Saint Martin of Tours. Author of the Sacred History (a chronicle from creation to the early 5th century), the Life of St Martin (which established the pattern of Latin hagiography), and several Dialogues about Martin and the Egyptian desert tradition.
