Ecclesiastes · King Solomon

¹ I said in my heart,

Eccl 2:1

² I said to laughter, Madness:

Eccl 2:2

³ And I examined whether my heart

Eccl 2:3

⁴ I enlarged my work;

Eccl 2:4

⁵ I made me gardens and orchards,

Eccl 2:5

⁶ I made me pools of water,

Eccl 2:6

⁷ I got servants and maidens,

Eccl 2:7

⁸ Moreover I collected for myself both silver and gold also,

Eccl 2:8

⁹ So I became great,

Eccl 2:9

¹⁰ And whatever mine eyes desired,

Eccl 2:10

¹¹ And I looked on all my works

Eccl 2:11

¹² Then I looked on to see wisdom,

Eccl 2:12

¹³ And I saw that wisdom excels folly,

Eccl 2:13

¹⁴ The wise man’s eyes are in his head;

Eccl 2:14

¹⁵ And I said in my heart,

Eccl 2:15

¹⁶ For there is no remembrance of the wise man

Eccl 2:16

¹⁷ So I hated life;

Eccl 2:17

¹⁸ And I hated the whole of my labor

Eccl 2:18

¹⁹ And who knows whether he will be a wise [man] or a fool?

Eccl 2:19

²⁰ So I went about to dismiss from my heart

Eccl 2:20

²¹ For there is [such] a man that his labor

Eccl 2:21

²² For it happens to a man in all his labor,

Eccl 2:22

²³ For all his days

Eccl 2:23

²⁴ A man has nothing [really] good

Eccl 2:24

²⁵ For who shall eat, or who shall drink, without him?

Eccl 2:25

²⁶ For [God] has given to the man
