TextA−AA+Bookmarks0← JobChapter 20Job 20:1¹ Then Zophar the Minaean answered and said,Job 20:1Job 20:2² I did not suppose that thou wouldest answer thus:Job 20:2Job 20:3³ I will hear my shameful reproach;Job 20:3Job 20:4⁴ Hast thou [not] known these things of old,Job 20:4Job 20:5⁵ But the mirth of the ungodly is a signal downfall,Job 20:5Job 20:6⁶ Although his gifts should go up to heaven,Job 20:6Job 20:7⁷ For when he shall seem to be now established,Job 20:7Job 20:8⁸ Like a dream that has fled away, he shall not be found;Job 20:8Job 20:9⁹ The eye has looked upon him, but shall not [see him] again;Job 20:9Job 20:10¹⁰ Let [his] inferiors destroy his children,Job 20:10Job 20:11¹¹ His bones have been filled with [vigor of] his youth,Job 20:11Job 20:12¹² Though evil be sweet in his mouth,Job 20:12Job 20:13¹³ Though he will not spare it, and will not leave it,Job 20:13Job 20:14¹⁴ Yet he shall not at all be able to help himself;Job 20:14Job 20:15¹⁵ [His] wealth unjustly collected shall be vomited up;Job 20:15Job 20:16¹⁶ And let him suck the poison of serpents,Job 20:16Job 20:17¹⁷ Let him not see the milk of the pastures,Job 20:17Job 20:18¹⁸ He has labored unprofitably and in vain, [for] wealth of which he shall not taste:Job 20:18Job 20:19¹⁹ For he has broken down the houses of many mighty men:Job 20:19Job 20:20²⁰ There is no security to his possessions;Job 20:20Job 20:21²¹ There is nothing remaining of his provisions;Job 20:21Job 20:22²² But when he shall seem to be just satisfied, he shall be straitened;Job 20:22Job 20:23²³ If by any means he would fill his belly,Job 20:23Job 20:24²⁴ And he shall by no means escape from the power of the sword;Job 20:24Job 20:25²⁵ And let the arrow pierce through his body;Job 20:25Job 20:26²⁶ And let all darkness wait for him:Job 20:26Job 20:27²⁷ And let the heaven reveal his iniquities,Job 20:27Job 20:28²⁸ Let destruction bring his house to an end;Job 20:28Job 20:29²⁹ This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord,Job 20:29← Chapter 19Chapter 21 →
