TextA−AA+Bookmarks0← JobChapter 22Job 22:1¹ Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,Job 22:1Job 22:2² Is it not the Lord that teaches understanding and knowledge?Job 22:2Job 22:3³ For what matters it to the Lord, if thou wert blameless in [thy] works?Job 22:3Job 22:4⁴ Wilt thou maintain and plead thine own cause?Job 22:4Job 22:5⁵ Is not thy wickedness abundant,Job 22:5Job 22:6⁶ And thou hast taken security of thy brethren for nothing,Job 22:6Job 22:7⁷ Neither hast thou given water to the thirsty to drink,Job 22:7Job 22:8⁸ And thou hast accepted the persons of some;Job 22:8Job 22:9⁹ But thou hast sent widows away empty,Job 22:9Job 22:10¹⁰ Therefore snares have compassed thee,Job 22:10Job 22:11¹¹ The light has proved darkness to thee,Job 22:11Job 22:12¹² Does not he that dwells in the high places observe?Job 22:12Job 22:13¹³ And thou hast said, What does the Mighty One know?Job 22:13Job 22:14¹⁴ A cloud is his hiding place, and he shall not be seen;Job 22:14Job 22:15¹⁵ Wilt thou [not] mark the old way,Job 22:15Job 22:16¹⁶ Who were seized before their time:Job 22:16Job 22:17¹⁷ Who say, What will the Lord do to us?Job 22:17Job 22:18¹⁸ Yet he filled their houses with good things:Job 22:18Job 22:19¹⁹ The righteous have seen [it], and laughed,Job 22:19Job 22:20²⁰ Verily their substance has been utterly destroyed,Job 22:20Job 22:21²¹ Be firm, I pray thee, if thou canst endure;Job 22:21Job 22:22²² And receive a declaration from his mouth,Job 22:22Job 22:23²³ And if thou shalt turn and humble thyself before the Lord,Job 22:23Job 22:24²⁴ Thou shalt lay up for thyself [treasure] in a heap on the rock;Job 22:24Job 22:25²⁵ So the Almighty shall be thy helper from enemies,Job 22:25Job 22:26²⁶ Then shalt thou have boldness before the Lord,Job 22:26Job 22:27²⁷ And he shall hear thee when thou prayest to him,Job 22:27Job 22:28²⁸ And he shall establish to thee again a habitation of righteousnessJob 22:28Job 22:29²⁹ Because thou hast humbled thyself; and thou shalt say, [Man] has behaved proudly,Job 22:29Job 22:30³⁰ He shall deliver the innocent,Job 22:30← Chapter 21Chapter 23 →
