Job

Chapter 9

¹ Then Job answered and said,

Job 9:1

² I know of a truth that it is so:

Job 9:2

³ For if he would enter into judgment with him,

Job 9:3

⁴ For he is wise in mind, and mighty, and great:

Job 9:4

⁵ Who wears out the mountains, and [men] know it not:

Job 9:5

⁶ Who shakes the [earth] under heaven from its foundations,

Job 9:6

⁷ Who commands the sun, and it rises not;

Job 9:7

⁸ Who alone has stretched out the heavens,

Job 9:8

⁹ Who makes Pleiades, and Hesperus, and Arcturus, and the chambers of the south.

Job 9:9

¹⁰ Who does great and unsearchable things;

Job 9:10

¹¹ If ever he should go beyond me, I shall not see him:

Job 9:11

¹² If he would take away, who shall turn him back?

Job 9:12

¹³ For [if] he has turned away [his] anger,

Job 9:13

¹⁴ Oh then that he would hearken to me, or judge my cause.

Job 9:14

¹⁵ For though I be righteous, he will not hearken to me:

Job 9:15

¹⁶ And if I should call and he should not hearken,

Job 9:16

¹⁷ Let him not crush me with a dark storm:

Job 9:17

¹⁸ For he suffers me not to take breath,

Job 9:18

¹⁹ For indeed he is strong in power:

Job 9:19

²⁰ For though I should seem righteous, my mouth will be profane:

Job 9:20

²¹ For even if I have sinned, I know it not [in] my soul:

Job 9:21

²² Wherefore I said, Wrath slays the great and mighty man.

Job 9:22

²³ For the worthless die,

Job 9:23

²⁴ For they are delivered into the hands of the unrighteous [man]:

Job 9:24

²⁵ But my life is swifter than a post:

Job 9:25

²⁶ Or again, is there a trace of [their] path [left] by ships?

Job 9:26

²⁷ And if I should say, I will forget to speak,

Job 9:27

²⁸ I quake in all my limbs,

Job 9:28

²⁹ But since I am ungodly, why have I not died?

Job 9:29

³⁰ For if I should wash myself with snow,

Job 9:30

³¹ Thou hadst thoroughly plunged me in filth,

Job 9:31

³² For thou art not man like me, with whom I could contend,

Job 9:32

³³ Would that [he] our mediator were [present], and a reprover,

Job 9:33

³⁴ Let him remove [his] rod from me,

Job 9:34

³⁵ So shall I not be afraid, but I will speak:

Job 9:35
