Chapter 2

Proverbs · King Solomon

¹ [My] son, if thou wilt receive the utterance of my commandment, and hide it with thee;

Pr 2:1

² Thine ear shall hearken to wisdom;

Pr 2:2

³ For if thou shalt call to wisdom,

Pr 2:3

⁴ And if thou shalt seek it as silver,

Pr 2:4

⁵ Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord,

Pr 2:5

⁶ For the Lord gives wisdom;

Pr 2:6

⁷ And he treasures up salvation for them that walk uprightly:

Pr 2:7

⁸ That he may guard the righteous ways:

Pr 2:8

⁹ Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment;

Pr 2:9

¹⁰ For if wisdom shall come into thine understanding,

Pr 2:10

¹¹ Good counsel shall guard thee,

Pr 2:11

¹² To deliver thee from the evil way,

Pr 2:12

¹³ Alas [for those] who forsake right paths,

Pr 2:13

¹⁴ Who rejoice in evils,

Pr 2:14

¹⁵ Whose paths are crooked,

Pr 2:15

¹⁶ To remove thee far from the straight way,

Pr 2:16

¹⁷ [Of her] who has forsaken the instruction of her youth,

Pr 2:17

¹⁸ For she has fixed her house near death,

Pr 2:18

¹⁹ None that go by her shall return,

Pr 2:19

²⁰ For had they gone in good paths,

Pr 2:20

²¹ For the upright shall dwell in the earth,

Pr 2:21

²² The paths of the ungodly shall perish out of the earth,

Pr 2:22
