Chapter 36

¹ [A Psalm] of David.

Ps 36:1

² For they shall soon be withered as the grass,

Ps 36:2

³ Hope in the Lord, and do good;

Ps 36:3

⁴ Delight [thyself] in the Lord;

Ps 36:4

⁵ Disclose thy way to the Lord,

Ps 36:5

⁶ And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light,

Ps 36:6

⁷ Submit thyself to the Lord, and supplicate him:

Ps 36:7

⁸ Cease from anger, and forsake wrath:

Ps 36:8

⁹ For evildoers shall be destroyed:

Ps 36:9

¹⁰ And yet a little while, and the sinner shall not be,

Ps 36:10

¹¹ But the meek shall inherit the earth;

Ps 36:11

¹² The sinner will watch for the righteous,

Ps 36:12

¹³ But the Lord shall laugh at him:

Ps 36:13

¹⁴ Sinners have drawn their swords,

Ps 36:14

¹⁵ Let their sword enter into their [own] heart,

Ps 36:15

¹⁶ A little is better to the righteous

Ps 36:16

¹⁷ For the arms of sinners shall be broken;

Ps 36:17

¹⁸ The Lord knows the ways of the perfect;

Ps 36:18

¹⁹ They shall not be ashamed in an evil time;

Ps 36:19

²⁰ For the sinners shall perish;

Ps 36:20

²¹ The sinner borrows, and will not pay again:

Ps 36:21

²² For they that bless him shall inherit the earth;

Ps 36:22

²³ The steps of a man are rightly ordered by the Lord:

Ps 36:23

²⁴ When he falls, he shall not be ruined:

Ps 36:24

²⁵ I was [once] young, indeed I am now old;

Ps 36:25

²⁶ He is merciful, and lends continually;

Ps 36:26

²⁷ Turn aside from evil, and do good;

Ps 36:27

²⁸ For the Lord loves judgment,

Ps 36:28

²⁹ But the righteous shall inherit the earth,

Ps 36:29

³⁰ The mouth of the righteous will meditate wisdom,

Ps 36:30

³¹ The law of his God is in his heart;

Ps 36:31

³² The sinner watches the righteous,

Ps 36:32

³³ But the Lord will not leave him in his hands,

Ps 36:33

³⁴ Wait on the Lord, and keep his way,

Ps 36:34

³⁵ I saw the ungodly very highly exalting himself,

Ps 36:35

³⁶ Yet I passed by, and lo! he was not:

Ps 36:36

³⁷ Maintain innocence, and behold uprightness:

Ps 36:37

³⁸ But the transgressors shall be utterly destroyed together:

Ps 36:38

³⁹ But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord;

Ps 36:39

⁴⁰ And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them:
