TextA−AA+Bookmarks0← PsalmsChapter 9Psalms · King DavidPs 9:1¹ For the end, a Psalm of David, concerning the secrets of the Son.Ps 9:1Ps 9:2² I will give thanks to thee, O Lord, with my whole heart;Ps 9:2Ps 9:3³ I will be glad and exult in thee:Ps 9:3Ps 9:4⁴ When mine enemies are turned back,Ps 9:4Ps 9:5⁵ For thou hast maintained my cause and my right;Ps 9:5Ps 9:6⁶ Thou hast rebuked the nations, and the ungodly one has perished;Ps 9:6Ps 9:7⁷ The swords of the enemy have failed utterly; and thou hast destroyed cities:Ps 9:7Ps 9:8⁸ But the Lord endures forever:Ps 9:8Ps 9:9⁹ And he will judge the world in righteousness,Ps 9:9Ps 9:10¹⁰ The Lord also is become a refuge for the poor,Ps 9:10Ps 9:11¹¹ And let them that know thy name hope in thee:Ps 9:11Ps 9:12¹² Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion:Ps 9:12Ps 9:13¹³ For he remembered them, [in] making inquisition for blood:Ps 9:13Ps 9:14¹⁴ Have mercy upon me, O Lord; look upon my affliction [which I suffer] of mine enemies,Ps 9:14Ps 9:15¹⁵ That I may declare all thy praisesPs 9:15Ps 9:16¹⁶ The heathen are caught in the destruction which they planned:Ps 9:16Ps 9:17¹⁷ The Lord is known as executing judgments:Ps 9:17Ps 9:18¹⁸ Let sinners be driven away into Hades,Ps 9:18Ps 9:19¹⁹ For the poor shall not be forgotten forever:Ps 9:19Ps 9:20²⁰ Arise, O Lord, let not man prevail:Ps 9:20Ps 9:21²¹ Appoint, O Lord, a lawgiver over them:Ps 9:21Ps 9:22²² Why standest thou afar off, O Lord?Ps 9:22Ps 9:23²³ While the ungodly one acts proudly, the poor is hotly pursued:Ps 9:23Ps 9:24²⁴ Because the sinner praises himself for the desires of his heart;Ps 9:24Ps 9:25²⁵ The sinner has provoked the Lord:Ps 9:25Ps 9:26²⁶ His ways are profane at all times;Ps 9:26Ps 9:27²⁷ For he has said in his heart, I shall not be moved,Ps 9:27Ps 9:28²⁸ Whose mouth is full of cursing, and bitterness, and fraud:Ps 9:28Ps 9:29²⁹ He lies in wait with rich [men]Ps 9:29Ps 9:30³⁰ He lies in wait in secret as a lion in his den:Ps 9:30Ps 9:31³¹ He will bow down and fall when he has mastered the poor.Ps 9:31Ps 9:32³² For he has said in his heart, God has forgotten:Ps 9:32Ps 9:33³³ Arise, O Lord God; let thy hand be lifted up:Ps 9:33Ps 9:34³⁴ Wherefore has the wicked provoked God?Ps 9:34Ps 9:35³⁵ Thou seest [it]; for thou dost observe trouble and wrath,Ps 9:35Ps 9:36³⁶ Break thou the arm of the sinner and wicked man:Ps 9:36Ps 9:37³⁷ The Lord shall reign forever, even forever and ever:Ps 9:37Ps 9:38³⁸ The Lord has heard the desire of the poor:Ps 9:38Ps 9:39³⁹ To plead for the orphan and afflicted,Ps 9:39← Chapter 8Chapter 10 →
