Chapter 45

¹ And he brought out of him a merciful man,

Sir 45:1

² He made him like to the glorious saints,

Sir 45:2

³ By his words he caused the wonders to cease,

Sir 45:3

⁴ He sanctified him [in] his faithfulness and meekness,

Sir 45:4

⁵ He made him to hear his voice,

Sir 45:5

⁶ He exalted Aaron, a holy man like unto him,

Sir 45:6

⁷ An everlasting covenant he made with him,

Sir 45:7

⁸ He put upon him perfect glory;

Sir 45:8

⁹ And he compassed him with pomegranates

Sir 45:9

¹⁰ With a holy garment, with gold, and blue silk,

Sir 45:10

¹¹ With twisted scarlet, the work of the cunning workman,

Sir 45:11

¹² He set a crown of gold upon the miter,

Sir 45:12

¹³ Before him there were none such,

Sir 45:13

¹⁴ Their sacrifices shall be wholly consumed every day twice continually.

Sir 45:14

¹⁵ Moses consecrated him, and anointed him with holy oil;

Sir 45:15

¹⁶ He chose him out of all men living

Sir 45:16

¹⁷ He gave unto him his commandments,

Sir 45:17

¹⁸ Strangers conspired together against him,

Sir 45:18

¹⁹ This the Lord saw, and it displeased him,

Sir 45:19

²⁰ But he made Aaron more honorable,

Sir 45:20

²¹ For they eat of the sacrifices of the Lord,

Sir 45:21

²² Howbeit in the land of the people he had no inheritance,

Sir 45:22

²³ The third in glory is Phinehas the son of Eleazar,

Sir 45:23

²⁴ Therefore was there a covenant of peace made with him,

Sir 45:24

²⁵ According to the covenant made with David son of Jesse, of the tribe of Judah,

Sir 45:25

²⁶ God give you wisdom in your heart
