Chapter 2

¹ These [are] the names of the sons of Israel; ² Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, Asher.

ΤΑΥΤΑ τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ· Ρουβήν, Συμεών, Λευί, Ἰούδα, Ἰσσάχαρ, Ζαβουλών, Δάν, Ἰωσήφ, Βενιαμίν, Νεφθαλί, Γάδ, Ἀσήρ.

³ The sons of Judah; Er, Onan, Shelah. [These] three were born to him of the daughter of Shua the Canaanitish woman: and Er, the firstborn of Judah, [was] wicked before the Lord, and he slew him. ⁴ And Tamar his daughter-in-law bore to him Perez, and Zerah: all the sons of Judah [were] five.

υἱοὶ Ἰούδα· Ἤρ, Αὐνάν, Σηλώμ, τρεῖς ἐγεννήθησαν αὐτῷ ἐκ τῆς θυγατρὸς Σαύας τῆς Χανανίτιδος. καὶ ἦν Ἢρ ὁ πρωτότοκος Ἰούδα πονηρὸς ἐναντίον Κυρίου, καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτόν. καὶ Θάμαρ ἡ νύμφη αὐτοῦ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Φαρὲς καὶ τὸν Ζαρά. πάντες υἱοὶ Ἰούδα πέντε.

⁵ The sons of Perez, Hezron, and Hamul. ⁶ And the sons of Zerah, Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara, [in] all five.

υἱοὶ Φαρές· Ἐσρὼμ καὶ Ἰεμουήλ. καὶ υἱοὶ Ζαρά· Ζαμβρὶ καὶ Αἰθὰν καὶ Αἰμὰν καὶ Καλχὰλ καὶ Δαράδ, πάντες πέντε.

⁷ And the sons of Carmi; Achan the troubler of Israel, who was disobedient in the accursed thing. ⁸ And the sons of Ethan; Azariah, ⁹ and the sons of Hezron who were born to him; Jerahmeel, and Ram, and Chelubai.

καὶ υἱοὶ Χαρμί· Ἄχαρ ὁ ἐμποδοστάτης Ἰσραήλ, ὃς ἠθέτησεν εἰς τὸ ἀνάθεμα. καὶ υἱοὶ Αἰθάν, Ἀζαρίας. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἐσρώμ, οἳ ἐτέχθησαν αὐτῷ· ὁ Ἱεραμεὴλ καὶ ὁ Ἀρὰμ καὶ ὁ Χαλέβ.

¹⁰ And Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, chief of the house of Judah. ¹¹ And Nahshon begot Salmon, and Salmon begot Boaz, ¹² and Boaz begot Obed, and Obed begot Jesse. ¹³ And Jesse begot his firstborn Eliab, Abinadab [was] the second, Shimea the third, ¹⁴ Nethanel the fourth, Raddai the fifth, ¹⁵ Ozem the sixth, David the seventh. ¹⁶ And their sister [was] Zeruiah, and [another] Abigail: and the sons of Zeruiah [were] Abishai, and Joab, and Asahel, three. ¹⁷ And Abigail bore Amasa: and the father of Amasa [was] Jether the Ishmaelite.

καὶ Ἀρὰμ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἀμιναδὰβ καὶ Ἀμιναδὰβ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ναασσὼν ἄρχοντα οἴκου Ἰούδα, καὶ Ναασσὼν ἐγέννησε τὸν Σαλμών, καὶ Σαλμὼν ἐγέννησε τὸν Βοόζ, καὶ Βοὸζ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ὠβήδ, καὶ Ὠβὴδ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἰεσσαί, καὶ Ἰεσσαὶ ἐγέννησε τὸν πρωτότοκον αὐτοῦ τὸν Ἐλιάβ· Ἀμιναδὰβ ὁ δεύτερος, Σαμαὰ ὁ τρίτος, Ναθαναὴλ ὁ τέταρτος, Ζαδδαΐ ὁ πέμπτος, Ἀσὸμ ὁ ἕκτος, Δαυὶδ ὁ ἕβδομος, καὶ ἡ ἀδελφὴ αὐτῶν Σαρουία καὶ Ἀβιγαία· καὶ υἱοὶ Σαρουία· Ἀβισὰ καὶ Ἰωὰβ καὶ Ἀσαήλ, τρεῖς. καὶ Ἀβιγαία ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἀμεσσά· καὶ πατὴρ Ἀμεσσὰ Ἰοθὸρ ὁ Ἰσμαηλίτης.

¹⁸ And Caleb the son of Hezron took Azubah to wife, and Jerioth: and these [were] her sons; Jesher, and Shobab, and Ardon. ¹⁹ And Azubah died; and Caleb took to himself Ephrath, and she bore to him Hur. ²⁰ And Hur begot Uri, and Uri begot Bezalel. ²¹ And after this Hezron went in to the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead, and he took her when he was sixty-five years old; and she bore him Segub. ²² And Segub begot Jair, and he had twenty-three cities in Gilead. ²³ And he took Geshur and Aram, the towns of Jair from them; [with] Kenath and its towns, sixty cities. All these [belonged to] the sons of Machir the father of Gilead. ²⁴ And after the death of Hezron, Caleb came to Ephrathah; and the wife of Hezron [was] Abia; and she bore him Ashhur the father of Tekoa.

καὶ Χαλὲβ υἱὸς Ἐσρὼμ ἔλαβε τὴν Γαζουβὰ γυναῖκα καὶ τὴν Ἱεριώθ. καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ αὐτῆς· Ἰασὰρ καὶ Σουβὰβ καὶ Ὀρνά. καὶ ἀπέθανε Γαζουβά, καὶ ἔλαβεν ἑαυτῷ Χαλὲβ τὴν Ἐφράθ, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ὤρ· καὶ Ὢρ ἐγέννησε τὸν Οὐρί, καὶ Οὐρὶ ἐγέννησε τὸν Βεσελεήλ. καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσῆλθεν Ἐσρὼν πρὸς τὴν θυγατέρα Μαχὶρ πατρὸς Γαλαάδ, καὶ οὗτος ἔλαβεν αὐτήν, καὶ αὐτὸς ἑξηκονταπέντε ἐτῶν ἦν. καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Σερούχ. καὶ Σεροὺχ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἰαΐρ. καὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ εἴκοσι καὶ τρεῖς πόλεις ἐν τῇ Γαλαάδ. καὶ ἔλαβε Γεδσοὺρ καὶ Ἀρὰμ τὰς κώμας Ἰαΐρ ἐξ αὐτῶν, τὴν Κανὰθ καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς, ἑξήκοντα πόλεις· πᾶσαι αὗται υἱῶν Μαχὶρ πατρὸς Γαλαάδ. καὶ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν Ἐσρὼν ἦλθε Χαλὲβ εἰς Ἐφραθά. καὶ ἡ γυνὴ Ἐσρὼν Ἀβιά, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ἀσχὼδ πατέρα Θεκωέ.

²⁵ And the sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron [were], the firstborn Ram, and Bunah, and Oren, and Ozem his brother. ²⁶ And Jerahmeel had another wife, and her name [was] Atarah: she is the mother of Onam. ²⁷ And the sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel were Maaz, and Jamin, and Eker. ²⁸ And the sons of Onam were, Shammai, and Jada: and the sons of Shammai; Nadab, and Abishur. ²⁹ And the name of the wife of Abishur [was] Abihail, and she bore him Ahban, and Molid. ³⁰ And the sons of Nadab; Seled and Appaim; and Seled died without children. ³¹ And the sons of Appaim, Ishi; and the sons of Ishi, Sheshan; and the sons of Sheshan, Dadai. ³² And the sons of Dadai, Achisamas, Jether, Jonathan: and Jether died childless. ³³ And the sons of Jonathan; Peleth, and Zaza. These were the sons of Jerahmeel.

καὶ ἦσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἱεραμεὴλ πρωτοτόκου Ἐσρών, ὁ πρωτότοκος Ράμ, καὶ Βαανὰ καὶ Ἀρὰν καὶ Ἀσὸμ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἦν γυνὴ ἑτέρα τῷ Ἱεραμεήλ, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῇ Ἀτάρα· αὕτη ἐστὶ μήτηρ Ὀζόμ. καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ρὰμ πρωτοτόκου Ἱεραμεήλ· Μαὰς καὶ Ἰαμὶν καὶ Ἀκόρ. καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ὀζόμ· Σαμαΐ καὶ Ἰαδαέ. καὶ υἱοὶ Σαμαΐ· Ναδὰβ καὶ Ἀβισούρ. καὶ ὄνομα τῆς γυναικὸς Ἀβισοὺρ Ἀβιχαία, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ἀχαβὰρ καὶ τὸν Μωήλ. καὶ υἱοὶ Ναδάβ· Σαλὰδ καὶ Ἀπφαίν. καὶ ἀπέθανε Σαλὰδ οὐκ ἔχων τέκνα. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἀπφαίν· Ἰσεμιήλ. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰσεμιήλ· Σωσάν. καὶ υἱοὶ Σωσάν· Ἀαδαί. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἀαδαί· Ἀχισαμάς, Ἰεθέρ, Ἰωνάθαν· καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ἰεθὲρ οὐκ ἔχων τέκνα. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰωνάθαν· Φαλὲδ καὶ Ὁζάμ. οὗτοι ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ἱεραμεήλ.

³⁴ And Sheshan had no sons, but daughters. And Sheshan had an Egyptian servant, and his name [was] Jarha. ³⁵ And Sheshan gave his daughter to Jarha his servant to wife; and she bore him Attai. ³⁶ And Attai begot Nathan, and Nathan begot Zabad, ³⁷ and Zabad begot Ephlal, and Ephlal begot Obed. ³⁸ And Obed begot Jehu, and Jehu begot Azariah, ³⁹ and Azariah begot Helez, and Helez begot Eleasah, ⁴⁰ and Eleasah begot Sismai, and Sismai begot Shallum, ⁴¹ and Shallum begot Jekamiah, and Jekamiah begot Elishama, and Elishama begot Ismael.

καὶ οὐκ ἦσαν τῷ Σωσὰν υἱοί, ἀλλ᾿ ἢ θυγατέρες· καὶ τῷ Σωσὰν παῖς Αἰγύπτιος, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ἰωχήλ, καὶ ἔδωκε Σωσὰν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ τῷ Ἰωχὴλ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς γυναῖκα, καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ἐθθί. καὶ Ἐθθὶ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ναθάν, καὶ Ναθὰν ἐγέννησε τὸν Ζαβέδ, καὶ Ζαβὲδ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἀφαμήλ, καὶ Ἀφαμὴλ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ὠβήδ, καὶ Ὠβὴδ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἰηού, καὶ Ἰηοὺ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἀζαρίαν, καὶ Ἀζαρίας ἐγέννησε τὸν Χελλής, καὶ Χελλὴς ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἐλεασά, καὶ Ἐλεασὰ ἐγέννησε τὸν Σοσομαΐ, καὶ Σοσομαΐ ἐγέννησε τὸν Σαλούμ, καὶ Σαλοὺμ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἰεχεμίαν, καὶ Ἰεχεμίας ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἐλισαμά, καὶ Ἐλισαμὰ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἰσμαήλ.

⁴² And the sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel [were], Mareshah his firstborn, he [is] the father of Ziph—and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hebron. ⁴³ And the sons of Hebron; Korah, and Tappuah, and Rekem, and Shema. ⁴⁴ And Shema begot Raham the father of Jorkeam: and Jorkeam begot Shammai. ⁴⁵ And his son [was] Maon: and Maon [is] the father of Beth-zur. ⁴⁶ And Ephah the concubine of Caleb bore Haran, and Moza, and Gazez. ⁴⁷ And the sons of Jahdai [were] Regem, and Jotham, and Sogar, and Pelet, and Ephah, and Shaaph. ⁴⁸ And Caleb’s concubine Maacah bore Sheber, and Tirhanah. ⁴⁹ She bore also Shaaph the father of Madmannah, and Sheva the father of Machbenah, and the father of Gibea: and the daughter of Caleb [was] Achsah. ⁵⁰ These were the sons of Caleb.

καὶ υἱοὶ Χαλὲβ ἀδελφοῦ Ἱεραμεήλ· Μαρισὰ ὁ πρωτότοκος αὐτοῦ, οὗτος πατὴρ Ζίφ· καὶ υἱοὶ Μαρισὰ πατρὸς Χεβρών. καὶ υἱοὶ Χεβρών· Κορὲ καὶ Θαπφοὺς καὶ Ρεκὸμ καὶ Σαμαά. καὶ Σαμαὰ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ραὲμ πατέρα Ἰεκλάν, καὶ Ἰεκλὰν ἐγέννησε τὸν Σαμαΐ· καὶ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Μαών, καὶ Μαὼν πατὴρ Βαιθσούρ. καὶ Γαιφὰ ἡ παλλακὴ Χαλὲβ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἀρρὰν καὶ τὸν Μωσὰ καὶ τὸν Γεζουέ. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἀδδαΐ· Ραγὲμ καὶ Ἰωάθαμ καὶ Σωγὰρ καὶ Φαλὲκ καὶ Γαιφὰ καὶ Σαγαέ. καὶ ἡ παλλακὴ Χαλὲβ Μωχὰ ἐγέννησε τὸν Σαβὲρ καὶ τὸν Θαράμ. καὶ ἐγέννησε Σαγαὲ πατέρα Μαρμηνὰ καὶ τὸν Σαοὺ πατέρα Μαχαμηνὰ καὶ πατέρα Γαιβαά· καὶ θυγάτηρ Χαλὲβ Ἀσχά. οὗτοι ἦσαν υἱοὶ Χαλέβ. υἱοὶ Ὢρ πρωτοτόκου Ἐφραθά· Σωβὰλ πατὴρ Καριαθιαρίμ.

⁵¹ Salma the father of Baetha, Lammon the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth-gader. ⁵² And the sons of Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim were Haroeh, and Aesi, and Ammanith, ⁵³ and Umasphae, cities of Jair; Ithrites, and Puthites, and Shumathites, and Mishraites; from these went forth the Zorathites, and the sons of Eshtaol. ⁵⁴ The sons of Salma; Bethlehem, the Netophathite, Ataroth of the house of Joab, and half of the family of Manahath, Esari. ⁵⁵ The families of the scribes dwelling in Jabez; Tirathites, and Shimeathites, and Sucathites, these [are] the Kenites that came of Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab.

Σαλωμὼν πατὴρ Βαιθλαὲμ καὶ Ἀρὶμ πατὴρ Βαιθγεδώρ. καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ τῷ Σωβὰλ πατρὶ Καριαθιαρίμ· Ἀραὰ καὶ Αἰσὶ καὶ Ἀμμανὶθ καὶ Οὐμασφαέ, πόλις Ἰαΐρ, Αἰθαλὶμ καὶ Μιφιθὶμ καὶ Ἡσαμαθὶμ καὶ Ἡμασαραΐμ· ἐκ τούτων ἐξήλθοσαν οἱ Σαραθαῖοι καὶ υἱοὶ Ἐσθαάμ. υἱοὶ Σαλωμών· Βαιθλαέμ, Νετωφαθί, Ἀταρὼθ οἴκου Ἰωὰβ καὶ ἥμισυ τῆς Μαλαθί, Ἠσαρί, πατριαὶ γραμματέων κατοικοῦντες ἐν Ἰάβις, Θαργαθιΐμ, Σαμαθιΐμ, καὶ Σωχαθίμ· οὗτοι οἱ Κιναῖοι οἱ ἐλθόντες ἐκ Μεσημὰ πατρὸς οἴκου Ρηχάβ.
