Chapter 10

¹ Now these [are] the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, Japheth; and sons were born to them after the flood.

ΑΥΤΑΙ δὲ αἱ γενέσεις τῶν υἱῶν Νῶε, Σήμ, Χάμ, Ἰάφεθ, καὶ ἐγεννήθησαν αὐτοῖς υἱοὶ μετὰ τὸν κατακλυσμόν.

² The sons of Japheth, Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Elisa, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. ³ And the sons of Gomer, Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. ⁴ And the sons of Javan, Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, Rodanim. ⁵ From these were the islands of the Gentiles divided in their land, each according to his tongue, in their tribes and in their nations.

Υἱοὶ Ἰάφεθ· Γαμὲρ καὶ Μαγὼγ καὶ Μαδοὶ καὶ Ἰωύαν καὶ Ἐλισὰ καὶ Θοβὲλ καὶ Μοσόχ καὶ Θείρας. καὶ υἱοὶ Γαμέρ· Ἀσχανὰζ καὶ Ριφὰθ καὶ Θοργαμά. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰωύαν· Ἐλισὰ καὶ Θάρσεις, Κίτιοι, Ρόδιοι. ἐκ τούτων ἀφωρίσθησαν νῆσοι τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐν τῇ γῇ αὐτῶν, ἕκαστος κατὰ γλῶσσαν ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῶν.

⁶ And the sons of Ham, Cush, and Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. ⁷ And the sons of Cush, Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah, Sheba, and Dedan. ⁸ And Cush begot Nimrod: he began to be a giant upon the earth. ⁹ He was a giant hunter before the Lord God; therefore they say, As Nimrod the giant hunter before the Lord. ¹⁰ And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. ¹¹ Out of that land came Asshur, and built Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah, ¹² and Resen between Nineveh and Calah: this is the great city. ¹³ And Mizraim begot the Ludim, and the Naphtuhim, and the Anamim, and the Lehabim, ¹⁴ and the Pathrusim, and the Casluhim (whence came forth Philistines) and the Caphtorim. ¹⁵ And Canaan begot Sidon his firstborn, and the Hittite, ¹⁶ and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite, ¹⁷ and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, ¹⁸ and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite; and after this the tribes of the Canaanites were dispersed. ¹⁹ And the boundaries of the Canaanites were from Sidon till one comes to Gerar and Gaza, till one comes to Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. ²⁰ These [were] the sons of Ham in their tribes according to their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.

Υἱοὶ δὲ Χάμ· Χοὺς καὶ Μερσαΐν Φοὺδ καὶ Χαναάν. υἱοὶ δὲ Χούς· Σαβὰ καὶ Εὐϊλὰ καὶ Σαβαθὰ καὶ Ρεγμὰ καὶ Σαβαθακά. υἱοὶ δὲ Ρεγμά· Σαβὰ καὶ Δαδάν. Χοὺς δὲ ἐγέννησε τὸν Νεβρώδ. οὗτος ἤρξατο εἶναι γίγας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· οὗτος ἦν γίγας κυνηγὸς ἐναντίον Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ· διὰ τοῦτο ἐροῦσιν, ὡς Νεβρὼδ γίγας κυνηγὸς ἐναντίον Κυρίου. καὶ ἐγένετο ἀρχὴ τῆς βασιλείας αὐτοῦ Βαβυλὼν καὶ Ὀρὲχ καὶ Ἀρχὰδ καὶ Χαλάννη ἐν τῇ γῇ Σεναάρ. ἐκ τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης ἐξῆλθεν Ἀσσοὺρ καὶ ᾠκοδόμησε τὴν Νινευΐ καὶ τὴν Ροωβὼθ πόλιν καὶ τὴν Χαλὰχ καὶ τὴν Δασὴ ἀνὰ μέσον Νινευΐ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσο Χαλάχ· αὕτη ἡ πόλις μεγάλη. καὶ Μεσραΐν ἐγέννησε τοὺς Λουδιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς Ἐνεμετιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς Λαβιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς Νεφθαλιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς Πατροσωνιεὶμ καὶ τοὺς Χασλωνιείμ, ὅθεν ἐξῆλθε Φυλιστιείμ, καὶ τοὺς Καφθοριείμ. Χαναὰν δὲ ἐγέννησε τὸν Σιδῶνα πρωτότοκον αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸν Χετταῖον καὶ τὸν Ἰεβουσαῖον καὶ τὸν Ἀμορραῖον καὶ τὸν Γεργεσαῖον καὶ τὸν Εὐαῖον καὶ τὸν Ἀρουκαῖον καὶ τὸν Ἀσενναῖον καὶ τὸν Ἀράδιον καὶ τὸν Σαμαραῖον καὶ τὸν Ἀμαθί. καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο διεσπάρησαν αἱ φυλαὶ τῶν Χαναναίων, καὶ ἐγένετο τὰ ὅραι τῶν Χαναναίων ἀπὸ Σιδῶνος ἕως ἐλθεῖν εἰς Γεραρὰ καὶ Γαζάν, ἕως ἐλθεῖν ἕως Σοδόμων καὶ Γομόρρας, Ἀδαμὰ καὶ Σεβωΐμ ἕως Δασά. οὗτοι υἱοὶ Χάμ, ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς αὐτῶν, κατὰ γλώσσας αὐτῶν, ἐν ταῖς χώραις αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῶν.

²¹ And to Shem himself also were children born, the father of all the sons of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder. ²² Sons of Shem, Elam, and Asshur, and Arpachshad, and Lud, and Aram, and Cainan. ²³ And sons of Aram, Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. ²⁴ And Arpachshad begot Cainan, and Cainan begot Shelah. And Shelah begot Eber. ²⁵ And to Eber were born two sons, the name of the one, Peleg, because in his days the earth was divided, and the name of his brother Joktan. ²⁶ And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah, ²⁷ and Hadoram, and Aibel, and Diklah, ²⁸ and Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba, ²⁹ and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab, all these were the sons of Joktan. ³⁰ And their dwelling was from Mesha, till one comes to Sephar, a mountain of the east. ³¹ These were the sons of Shem in their tribes, according to their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations. ³² These are the tribes of the sons of Noah, according to their generations, according to their nations: of them were the islands of the Gentiles scattered over the earth after the flood.

Καὶ τῷ Σὴμ ἐγεννήθη καὶ αὐτῷ, πατρὶ πάντων τῶν υἱῶν ¨Εβερ, ἀδελφῷ Ἰάφεθ τοῦ μείζονος. υἱοὶ Σήμ· Ἐλὰμ καὶ Ἀσσοὺρ καὶ Ἀρφαξὰδ καὶ Λοὺδ καὶ Ἀρὰμ καὶ Καϊνᾶν. καὶ υἱοὶ Ἀράμ· Οὒζ καί Οὒλ καὶ Γατὲρ καὶ Μοσόχ. καὶ Ἀρφαξὰδ ἐγέννησε τὸν Καϊνᾶν, καὶ Καϊνᾶν ἐγέννησε τὸν Σαλά, Σαλὰ δὲ ἐγέννησε τὸν ¨Εβερ. καὶ τῷ ¨Εβερ ἐγεννήθησαν δύο υἱοί· ὄνομα τῷ ἑνὶ Φαλέγ, ὅτι ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις αὐτοῦ διεμερίσθη ἡ γῆ, καὶ ὄνομα τῷ ἀδελφῷ αὐτοῦ Ἰεκτάν. Ἰεκτὰν δὲ ἐγέννησε τὸν Ἐλμωδὰδ καὶ Σαλὲθ καὶ τὸν Σαρμὼθ καὶ Ἰαρὰχ καὶ Ὁδορρὰ καὶ Αἰβὴλ καὶ Δεκλὰ καὶ Εὐὰλ καὶ Ἀβιμαὲλ καὶ Σαβὰ καὶ Οὐφεὶρ καὶ Εὐειλὰ καὶ Ἰωβάβ. πάντες οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἰεκτάν. καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ κατοίκησις αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Μασσῆ ἕως ἐλθεῖν εἰς Σαφηρά, ὄρος ἀνατολῶν. οὗτοι υἱοὶ Σήμ, ἐν ταῖς φυλαῖς αὐτῶν, κατὰ γλώσσας αὐτῶν, ἐν ταῖς χώραις αὐτῶν καὶ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν αὐτῶν. Αὗται αἱ φυλαὶ υἱῶν Νῶε κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν, κατὰ ἔθνη αὐτῶν· ἀπὸ τούτων διεσπάρησαν νῆσοι τῶν ἐθνῶν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς μετὰ τὸν κατακλυσμόν.
