Chapter 15

¹ Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

Job 15:1

² Will a wise man give for answer a [mere] breath of wisdom?

Job 15:2

³ Reasoning with improper sayings,

Job 15:3

⁴ Hast not thou moreover cast off fear,

Job 15:4

⁵ Thou art guilty by the words of thy mouth,

Job 15:5

⁶ Let thine own mouth, and not me, reprove thee:

Job 15:6

⁷ What! art thou the first man that was born?

Job 15:7

⁸ Or hast thou heard the ordinance of the Lord?

Job 15:8

⁹ For what knowest thou, that we know not?

Job 15:9

¹⁰ Truly among us [are] both the old and very aged man,

Job 15:10

¹¹ Thou hast been scourged for [but] few of thy sins:

Job 15:11

¹² What has thy heart dared?

Job 15:12

¹³ That thou hast vented [thy] rage before the Lord,

Job 15:13

¹⁴ For who, being a mortal, [is such] that he shall be blameless?

Job 15:14

¹⁵ Forasmuch as he trusts not his saints;

Job 15:15

¹⁶ Alas then, abominable and unclean is man,

Job 15:16

¹⁷ But I will tell thee, hearken to me;

Job 15:17

¹⁸ Things wise men say, and their fathers have not hidden.

Job 15:18

¹⁹ To them alone the earth was given,

Job 15:19

²⁰ All the life of the ungodly [is spent] in care,

Job 15:20

²¹ And his terror is in his ears:

Job 15:21

²² Let him not trust that he shall return from darkness,

Job 15:22

²³ And he has been appointed to be food for vultures;

Job 15:23

²⁴ Distress also and anguish shall come upon him:

Job 15:24

²⁵ For he has lifted his hands against the Lord,

Job 15:25

²⁶ And he has run against him with insolence,

Job 15:26

²⁷ For he has covered his face with his fat,

Job 15:27

²⁸ And let him lodge in desolate cities,

Job 15:28

²⁹ Neither shall he at all grow rich, nor shall his substance remain:

Job 15:29

³⁰ Neither shall he in anywise escape the darkness:

Job 15:30

³¹ Let him not think that he shall endure;

Job 15:31

³² His harvest shall perish before the time,

Job 15:32

³³ And let him be gathered as the unripe grape before the time,

Job 15:33

³⁴ For death is the witness of an ungodly man,

Job 15:34

³⁵ And he shall conceive sorrows,

Job 15:35
