Chapter 42

¹ Then Job answered and said to the Lord,

Job 42:1

² I know that thou canst do all things,

Job 42:2

³ For who is he that hides counsel from thee?

Job 42:3

⁴ But hear me, O Lord, that I also may speak:

Job 42:4

⁵ I have heard the report of thee by the ear before;

Job 42:5

⁶ Wherefore I have counted myself vile, and have fainted:

Job 42:6

⁷ And it came to pass after the Lord had spoken all these words to Job, [that] the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite,

Job 42:7

⁸ Now then take seven bullocks, and seven rams,

Job 42:8

⁹ So Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Minaean,

Job 42:9

¹⁰ And the Lord prospered Job:

Job 42:10

¹¹ And all his brethren and his sisters heard

Job 42:11

¹² And the Lord blessed the latter end of Job, [more] than the beginning:

Job 42:12

¹³ And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.

Job 42:13

¹⁴ And he called the first, Day,

Job 42:14

¹⁵ And there were not found in comparison with the daughters of Job, fairer [women] than they in all the world:

Job 42:15

¹⁶ And Job lived after [his] affliction a hundred and seventy years:

Job 42:16

¹⁷ And Job died, an old man and full of days:

Job 42:17

¹⁷ a And it is written that he will rise again with those whom the Lord raises up.

¹⁷ c And having taken an Arabian wife, he begot a son whose name was Ennon.
