TextA−AA+Bookmarks0← LamentationsChapter 3Lamentations · Prophet JeremiahLam 3:1¹ I am the man that sees poverty,Lam 3:1Lam 3:2² He has taken me, and led me away into darkness,Lam 3:2Lam 3:3³ Nay, against me has he turned his hand all the day.Lam 3:3Lam 3:4⁴ He has made old my flesh and my skin;Lam 3:4Lam 3:5⁵ He has built against me, and compassed my head,Lam 3:5Lam 3:6⁶ He has set me in dark places,Lam 3:6Lam 3:7⁷ He has built against me, and I cannot come forth:Lam 3:7Lam 3:8⁸ Yea, [though] I cry and shout,Lam 3:8Lam 3:9⁹ He has built up my ways,Lam 3:9Lam 3:10¹⁰ He has troubled me,Lam 3:10Lam 3:11¹¹ He pursued [me] after I departed,Lam 3:11Lam 3:12¹² He has bent his bow,Lam 3:12Lam 3:13¹³ He has caused the arrows of his quiverLam 3:13Lam 3:14¹⁴ I became a laughingstock to all my people;Lam 3:14Lam 3:15¹⁵ He has filled me with bitterness,Lam 3:15Lam 3:16¹⁶ And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel,Lam 3:16Lam 3:17¹⁷ He has also removed my soul from peace:Lam 3:17Lam 3:18¹⁸ Therefore my success has perished,Lam 3:18Lam 3:19¹⁹ I remembered by reason of my poverty,Lam 3:19Lam 3:20²⁰ And my soul shall meditate with me.Lam 3:20Lam 3:21²¹ This will I lay up in my heart,Lam 3:21Lam 3:22²² [It is] the mercies of the Lord,Lam 3:22Lam 3:23²³ [They are] new every morning:Lam 3:23Lam 3:24²⁴ The Lord is my portion, says my soul;Lam 3:24Lam 3:25²⁵ The Lord is good to them that wait for him:Lam 3:25Lam 3:26²⁶ [Is] good, and shall wait for,Lam 3:26Lam 3:27²⁷ [It is] good for a manLam 3:27Lam 3:28²⁸ He will sit alone, and be silent,Lam 3:28Lam 3:30³⁰ He will give [his] cheek to him that smites him:Lam 3:30Lam 3:31³¹ For the Lord will not reject forever.Lam 3:31Lam 3:32³² For he that has brought down will pity,Lam 3:32Lam 3:33³³ He has not answered [in anger] from his heart,Lam 3:33Lam 3:34³⁴ To bring down under his feetLam 3:34Lam 3:35³⁵ To turn aside the judgment of a manLam 3:35Lam 3:36³⁶ To condemn a man [unjustly] in his judgment,Lam 3:36Lam 3:37³⁷ Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass?Lam 3:37Lam 3:38³⁸ Out of the mouth of the Most HighLam 3:38Lam 3:39³⁹ Why should a living man complain,Lam 3:39Lam 3:40⁴⁰ Our way has been searched out and examined,Lam 3:40Lam 3:41⁴¹ Let us lift up our hearts with [our] handsLam 3:41Lam 3:42⁴² We have sinned,Lam 3:42Lam 3:43⁴³ Thou hast visited [us] in wrath,Lam 3:43Lam 3:44⁴⁴ Thou hast veiled thyself with a cloudLam 3:44Lam 3:45⁴⁵ And be cast off.Lam 3:45Lam 3:46⁴⁶ All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.Lam 3:46Lam 3:47⁴⁷ Fear and wrath are come upon us,Lam 3:47Lam 3:48⁴⁸ Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water,Lam 3:48Lam 3:49⁴⁹ Mine eye is drowned [with tears],Lam 3:49Lam 3:50⁵⁰ Until the Lord look down,Lam 3:50Lam 3:51⁵¹ Mine eye shall prey upon my soul,Lam 3:51Lam 3:52⁵² The fowlers chased me as a sparrow,Lam 3:52Lam 3:53⁵³ And laid a stone upon me.Lam 3:53Lam 3:54⁵⁴ Water flowed over my head:Lam 3:54Lam 3:55⁵⁵ I called upon thy name, O Lord,Lam 3:55Lam 3:56⁵⁶ Thou heardest my voice:Lam 3:56Lam 3:57⁵⁷ Thou drewest nigh to my help:Lam 3:57Lam 3:58⁵⁸ O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul;Lam 3:58Lam 3:59⁵⁹ Thou hast seen, O Lord, my troubles:Lam 3:59Lam 3:60⁶⁰ Thou hast seen all their vengeance,Lam 3:60Lam 3:61⁶¹ Thou hast heard their reproachLam 3:61Lam 3:62⁶² The lips of them that rose up against me,Lam 3:62Lam 3:63⁶³ Their sitting down and their rising up:Lam 3:63Lam 3:64⁶⁴ Thou wilt render them a recompense, O Lord,Lam 3:64Lam 3:65⁶⁵ Thou wilt give them [as] a covering,Lam 3:65Lam 3:66⁶⁶ Thou wilt persecute them in anger,Lam 3:66← Chapter 2Chapter 4 →
