Chapter 16

Proverbs · King Solomon

² All the works of the humble [man] are manifest with God;

Pr 16:2

⁵ Every one that is proud in heart is unclean before God,

Pr 16:5

⁷ The beginning of a good way is to do justly;

Pr 16:7

⁸ He that seeks the Lord shall find knowledge with righteousness:

Pr 16:8

⁹ All the works of the Lord [are done] with righteousness;

Pr 16:9

¹⁰ [There is] an oracle upon the lips of a king;

Pr 16:10

¹¹ The poise of the balance is righteousness with the Lord;

Pr 16:11

¹² An evildoer is an abomination to a king;

Pr 16:12

¹³ Righteous lips are acceptable to a king;

Pr 16:13

¹⁴ The anger of a king is a messenger of death;

Pr 16:14

¹⁵ The son of a king is in the light of life;

Pr 16:15

¹⁶ The brood of wisdom is more to be chosen than gold,

Pr 16:16

¹⁷ The paths of life turn aside from evil;

Pr 16:17

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction,

Pr 16:18

¹⁹ Better is a meek-spirited [man] with lowliness,

Pr 16:19

²⁰ [He who is] skillful in business finds good:

Pr 16:20

²¹ [Men] call the wise and understanding evil:

Pr 16:21

²² Understanding is a fountain of life to its possessors;

Pr 16:22

²³ The heart of the wise will discern the [things which proceed] from his own mouth;

²⁴ Good words are honeycombs,

Pr 16:24

²⁵ There are ways that seem to be right to a man,

Pr 16:25

²⁶ A man who labors, labors for himself, and drives from [him] his own ruin.

²⁷ But the perverse bears destruction upon his own mouth:

²⁸ A perverse man spreads mischief,

Pr 16:28

²⁹ A transgressor tries [to ensnare] friends,

Pr 16:29

³⁰ And the man that fixes his eyes devises perverse things,

Pr 16:30

³¹ Old age is a crown of honor,

Pr 16:31

³² A man slow to anger is better than a strong [man];

Pr 16:32

³³ All [evils] come upon the ungodly into [their] bosoms;
