Chapter 28

Proverbs · King Solomon

¹ The ungodly [man] flees when no one pursues:

Pr 28:1

² By reason of the sins of ungodly men quarrels arise;

Pr 28:2

³ A bold man oppresses the poor by ungodly deeds.

Pr 28:3

⁴ So they that forsake the law praise ungodliness;

Pr 28:4

⁵ Evil men will not understand judgment:

Pr 28:5

⁶ A poor man walking in truth is better than a rich liar.

Pr 28:6

⁷ A wise son keeps the law:

Pr 28:7

⁸ He that increases his wealth by usuries and [unjust] gains,

Pr 28:8

⁹ He that turns away his ear from hearing the law,

Pr 28:9

¹⁰ He that causes upright men to err in an evil way,

Pr 28:10

¹¹ A rich man is wise in his own conceit;

Pr 28:11

¹² By reason of the help of righteous men great glory arises:

Pr 28:12

¹³ He that covers his own ungodliness shall not prosper:

Pr 28:13

¹⁴ Blessed is the man who religiously fears always:

Pr 28:14

¹⁵ A hungry lion and a thirsty wolf [is he],

Pr 28:15

¹⁶ A king in need of revenues is a great oppressor:

Pr 28:16

¹⁷ He that becomes surety for a man charged with murder

Pr 28:17

¹⁷ a Chasten thy son, and he shall love thee,

Pr 28:17

¹⁸ He that walks justly is assisted:

Pr 28:18

¹⁹ He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread:

²⁰ A man worthy of credit shall be much blessed:

Pr 28:20

²¹ He that reverences not the persons of the just is not good:

²² An envious man makes haste to be rich,

Pr 28:22

²³ He that reproves a man’s ways

Pr 28:23

²⁴ He that casts off father or mother, and thinks he sins not;

Pr 28:24

²⁵ An unbelieving man judges rashly:

Pr 28:25

²⁶ He that trusts to a bold heart, such a one is a fool:

Pr 28:26

²⁷ He that gives to the poor shall not be in want:

Pr 28:27

²⁸ In the places of ungodly [men] the righteous mourn:
