Chapter 5

Proverbs · King Solomon

¹ [My] son, attend to my wisdom,

Pr 5:1

² That thou mayest keep good understanding,

Pr 5:2

³ For honey drops from the lips of a harlot,

Pr 5:3

⁴ But afterward thou wilt find her more bitter than gall,

Pr 5:4

⁵ For the feet of folly lead

Pr 5:5

⁶ For she goes not upon the paths of life;

Pr 5:6

⁷ Now then, [my] son, hear me,

Pr 5:7

⁸ Remove thy way far from her;

Pr 5:8

⁹ Lest thou give away thy life to others,

Pr 5:9

¹⁰ Lest strangers be filled with thy strength,

Pr 5:10

¹¹ And thou repent at last,

Pr 5:11

¹² And thou shalt say, How have I hated instruction,

Pr 5:12

¹³ I heard not the voice of him that instructed me, and taught me,

Pr 5:13

¹⁴ I was almost in all evil

Pr 5:14

¹⁵ Drink waters out of thine own vessels,

Pr 5:15

¹⁶ Let not waters out of thy fountain be spilt by thee,

Pr 5:16

¹⁷ Let them be only thine own,

Pr 5:17

¹⁸ Let thy fountain of water be [truly] thine own;

Pr 5:18

¹⁹ Let [thy] loving hart and thy graceful colt company with thee,

Pr 5:19

²⁰ Be not intimate with a strange woman,

Pr 5:20

²¹ For the ways of a man are before the eyes of God,

Pr 5:21

²² Iniquities ensnare a man,

Pr 5:22

²³ Such a man dies with the uninstructed;
