Chapter 138

¹ For the end, a Psalm of David.

Ps 138:1

² Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising:

Ps 138:2

³ Thou hast traced my path and my bed,

Ps 138:3

⁴ For there is no unrighteous word in my tongue:

Ps 138:4

⁵ the last and the first:

Ps 138:5

⁶ The knowledge of thee is too wonderful for me;

Ps 138:6

⁷ Whither shall I go from thy Spirit?

Ps 138:7

⁸ If I should go up to heaven, thou art there:

Ps 138:8

⁹ If I should spread my wings [to fly] straight forward,

Ps 138:9

¹⁰ For even there thy hand would guide me,

Ps 138:10

¹¹ When I said, Surely the darkness will cover me;

Ps 138:11

¹² For darkness will not be darkness with thee;

Ps 138:12

¹³ For thou, O Lord, hast possessed my reins;

Ps 138:13

¹⁴ I will give thee thanks; for thou art fearfully wondrous;

Ps 138:14

¹⁵ My bones which thou madest in secret were not hidden from thee,

Ps 138:15

¹⁶ Thine eyes saw my unwrought [substance],

Ps 138:16

¹⁷ But thy friends, O God, have been greatly honored by me;

Ps 138:17

¹⁸ I will number them, and they shall be multiplied beyond the sand;

Ps 138:18

¹⁹ Oh that thou wouldest slay the wicked, O God;

Ps 138:19

²⁰ For thou wilt say concerning [their] thought,

Ps 138:20

²¹ Have I not hated them, O Lord, that hate thee?

Ps 138:21

²² I have hated them with perfect hatred;

Ps 138:22

²³ Prove me, O God, and know my heart;

Ps 138:23

²⁴ And see if [there is any] way of iniquity in me,

Ps 138:24
