Chapter 139

¹ For the end, a Psalm of David.

Ps 139:1

² Rescue me, O Lord, from the evil man;

Ps 139:2

³ Who have devised injustice in their hearts;

Ps 139:3

⁴ They have sharpened their tongue as [the tongue] of a serpent;

Ps 139:4

⁵ Keep me, O Lord, from the hand of the sinner;

Ps 139:5

⁶ The proud have hidden a snare for me,

Ps 139:6

⁷ I said to the Lord, Thou art my God;

Ps 139:7

⁸ O Lord God, the strength of my salvation;

Ps 139:8

⁹ Deliver me not, O Lord, to the sinner, according to my desire:

Ps 139:9

¹⁰ [As for] the head of them that compass me,

Ps 139:10

¹¹ Coals of fire shall fall upon them on the earth;

Ps 139:11

¹² A talkative man shall not prosper on the earth:

Ps 139:12

¹³ I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the poor,

Ps 139:13

¹⁴ Surely the righteous shall give thanks to thy name:
