Chapter 87

¹ A song of a Psalm for the sons of Korah for the end, upon Mahalath for responsive [strains], of instruction for Heman the Israelite.

Ps 87:1

² O Lord God of my salvation,

Ps 87:2

³ Let my prayer come in before thee;

Ps 87:3

⁴ For my soul is filled with troubles,

Ps 87:4

⁵ I have been reckoned with them that go down to the pit;

Ps 87:5

⁶ free among the dead,

Ps 87:6

⁷ They laid me in the lowest pit,

Ps 87:7

⁸ Thy wrath has pressed heavily upon me,

Ps 87:8

⁹ Thou hast removed my acquaintance far from me;

Ps 87:9

¹⁰ Mine eyes are dimmed from poverty;

Ps 87:10

¹¹ Wilt thou work wonders for the dead?

Ps 87:11

¹² Shall anyone declare thy mercy in the tomb?

Ps 87:12

¹³ Shall thy wonders be known in darkness?

Ps 87:13

¹⁴ But I cried to thee, O Lord;

Ps 87:14

¹⁵ Wherefore, O Lord, dost thou reject my prayer,

¹⁶ I am poor and in troubles from my youth;

Ps 87:16

¹⁷ Thy wrath has passed over me;

Ps 87:17

¹⁸ They compassed me like water;

¹⁹ Thou hast put far from me [every] friend,
