TextA−AA+Bookmarks0← PsalmsChapter 77Psalms · King DavidPs 77:1¹ [A Psalm] of instruction for Asaph.Ps 77:1Ps 77:2² I will open my mouth in parables:Ps 77:2Ps 77:3³ All which we have heard and known,Ps 77:3Ps 77:4⁴ They were not hidden from their children to a second generation;Ps 77:4Ps 77:5⁵ And he raised up a testimony in Jacob,Ps 77:5Ps 77:6⁶ That another generation might know,Ps 77:6Ps 77:7⁷ That they might set their hope on God,Ps 77:7Ps 77:8⁸ That they should not be as their fathers,Ps 77:8Ps 77:9⁹ The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting [with] the bow,Ps 77:9Ps 77:10¹⁰ They kept not the covenant of God,Ps 77:10Ps 77:11¹¹ And they forgot his benefits,Ps 77:11Ps 77:12¹² The miracles which he wrought before their fathers,Ps 77:12Ps 77:13¹³ He clove the sea, and led them through:Ps 77:13Ps 77:14¹⁴ And he guided them with a cloud by day,Ps 77:14Ps 77:15¹⁵ He clove a rock in the wilderness,Ps 77:15Ps 77:16¹⁶ And he brought water out of the rock,Ps 77:16Ps 77:17¹⁷ And they sinned yet more against him;Ps 77:17Ps 77:18¹⁸ And they tempted God in their hearts,Ps 77:18Ps 77:19¹⁹ They spoke also against God, and said,Ps 77:19Ps 77:20²⁰ Forasmuch as he smote the rock, and the waters flowed,Ps 77:20Ps 77:21²¹ Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked:Ps 77:21Ps 77:22²² Because they believed not in God,Ps 77:22Ps 77:23²³ Yet he commanded the clouds from above,Ps 77:23Ps 77:24²⁴ And rained upon them manna to eat,Ps 77:24Ps 77:25²⁵ Man ate angels’ bread;Ps 77:25Ps 77:26²⁶ He removed the south wind from heaven;Ps 77:26Ps 77:27²⁷ And he rained upon them flesh like dust,Ps 77:27Ps 77:28²⁸ And they fell into the midst of their camp,Ps 77:28Ps 77:29²⁹ So they ate, and were completely filled;Ps 77:29Ps 77:30³⁰ They were not disappointed of their desire:Ps 77:30Ps 77:31³¹ Then the indignation of God rose up against them,Ps 77:31Ps 77:32³² In the midst of all this they sinned yet more,Ps 77:32Ps 77:33³³ And their days were consumed in vanity,Ps 77:33Ps 77:34³⁴ When he slew them, they sought him:Ps 77:34Ps 77:35³⁵ And they remembered that God was their helper,Ps 77:35Ps 77:36³⁶ Yet they loved him [only] with their mouth,Ps 77:36Ps 77:37³⁷ For their heart [was] not right with him,Ps 77:37Ps 77:38³⁸ But he is compassionate,Ps 77:38Ps 77:39³⁹ And he remembered that they are flesh;Ps 77:39Ps 77:40⁴⁰ How often did they provoke him in the wilderness,Ps 77:40Ps 77:41⁴¹ Yea, they turned back, and tempted God,Ps 77:41Ps 77:42⁴² They remembered not his hand,Ps 77:42Ps 77:43⁴³ How he had wrought his signs in Egypt,Ps 77:43Ps 77:44⁴⁴ And had changed their rivers into blood;Ps 77:44Ps 77:45⁴⁵ He sent against them the dog fly, and it devoured them;Ps 77:45Ps 77:46⁴⁶ And he gave their fruit to the canker worm,Ps 77:46Ps 77:47⁴⁷ He killed their vines with hail,Ps 77:47Ps 77:48⁴⁸ And he gave up their cattle to hail,Ps 77:48Ps 77:49⁴⁹ He sent out against them the fury of his anger,Ps 77:49Ps 77:50⁵⁰ He made a way for his wrath;Ps 77:50Ps 77:51⁵¹ And smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt;Ps 77:51Ps 77:52⁵² And he removed his people like sheep;Ps 77:52Ps 77:53⁵³ And he guided them with hope, and they feared not:Ps 77:53Ps 77:54⁵⁴ And he brought them in to the mountain of his sanctuary,Ps 77:54Ps 77:55⁵⁵ And he cast out the nations from before them,Ps 77:55Ps 77:56⁵⁶ Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God,Ps 77:56Ps 77:57⁵⁷ And they turned back, and broke covenant, even as also their fathers:Ps 77:57Ps 77:58⁵⁸ And they provoked him with their high places,Ps 77:58Ps 77:59⁵⁹ God heard and lightly regarded [them],Ps 77:59Ps 77:60⁶⁰ And he rejected the tabernacle of Shiloh,Ps 77:60Ps 77:61⁶¹ And he gave their strength into captivity,Ps 77:61Ps 77:62⁶² And he gave his people to the sword;Ps 77:62Ps 77:63⁶³ Fire devoured their young men;Ps 77:63Ps 77:64⁶⁴ Their priests fell by the sword;Ps 77:64Ps 77:65⁶⁵ So the Lord awoke as one out of sleep,Ps 77:65Ps 77:66⁶⁶ And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts:Ps 77:66Ps 77:67⁶⁷ And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph,Ps 77:67Ps 77:68⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Judah,Ps 77:68Ps 77:69⁶⁹ And he built his sanctuary as [the place] of unicorns;Ps 77:69Ps 77:70⁷⁰ He chose David also his servant,Ps 77:70Ps 77:71⁷¹ He took him from following the ewes great with young,Ps 77:71Ps 77:72⁷² So he tended them in the innocency of his heart;Ps 77:72← Chapter 76Chapter 78 →
