TextA−AA+Bookmarks0← Wisdom of SolomonChapter 5Wisdom of Solomon · King SolomonWis 5:1¹ Then shall the righteous man stand in great boldnessWis 5:1Wis 5:2² When they see it, they shall be troubled with terrible fear,Wis 5:2Wis 5:3³ And they repenting and groaning for anguish of spiritWis 5:3Wis 5:4⁴ We fools accounted his life madness,Wis 5:4Wis 5:5⁵ How is he numbered among the children of God,Wis 5:5Wis 5:6⁶ Therefore have we erred from the way of truth,Wis 5:6Wis 5:7⁷ We wearied ourselves in the way of wickedness and destruction:Wis 5:7Wis 5:8⁸ What hath pride profited us?Wis 5:8Wis 5:9⁹ All those things are passed away like a shadow,Wis 5:9Wis 5:10¹⁰ And as a ship that passeth over the waves of the water,Wis 5:10Wis 5:11¹¹ Or as when a bird hath flown through the air,Wis 5:11Wis 5:12¹² Or like as when an arrow is shot at a mark,Wis 5:12Wis 5:13¹³ Even so we in like manner, as soon as we were born, began to draw to our end,Wis 5:13Wis 5:14¹⁴ For the hope of the ungodly is like dust that is blown away with the wind;Wis 5:14Wis 5:15¹⁵ But the righteous live for evermore;Wis 5:15Wis 5:16¹⁶ Therefore shall they receive a glorious kingdom,Wis 5:16Wis 5:17¹⁷ He shall take to him his jealousy for complete armor,Wis 5:17Wis 5:18¹⁸ He shall put on righteousness as a breastplate,Wis 5:18Wis 5:19¹⁹ He shall take holiness for an invincible shield.Wis 5:19Wis 5:20²⁰ His severe wrath shall he sharpen for a sword,Wis 5:20Wis 5:21²¹ Then shall the right aiming thunderbolts go abroad;Wis 5:21Wis 5:22²² And hailstones full of wrath shall be cast [as] out of a stone bow,Wis 5:22Wis 5:23²³ Yea, a mighty wind shall stand up against them,Wis 5:23← Chapter 4Chapter 6 →
