TextA−AA+Bookmarks0← Wisdom of SolomonChapter 7Wisdom of Solomon · King SolomonWis 7:1¹ I myself also am a mortal man, like to all,Wis 7:1Wis 7:2² And in my mother’s womb was fashioned to be fleshWis 7:2Wis 7:3³ And when I was born, I drew in the common air,Wis 7:3Wis 7:4⁴ I was nursed in swaddling clothes, and that with cares.Wis 7:4Wis 7:5⁵ For there is no king that had any other beginning of birth.Wis 7:5Wis 7:6⁶ For all men have one entrance into life, and the like going out.Wis 7:6Wis 7:7⁷ Wherefore I prayed, and understanding was given me:Wis 7:7Wis 7:8⁸ I preferred her before scepters and thrones,Wis 7:8Wis 7:9⁹ Neither compared I unto her any precious stone,Wis 7:9Wis 7:10¹⁰ I loved her above health and beauty,Wis 7:10Wis 7:11¹¹ All good things together came to me with her,Wis 7:11Wis 7:12¹² And I rejoiced in [them] all, because wisdom goeth before them:Wis 7:12Wis 7:13¹³ I learned diligently, and do communicate [her] liberally:Wis 7:13Wis 7:14¹⁴ For she is a treasure unto men that never faileth:Wis 7:14Wis 7:15¹⁵ God hath granted me to speak as I would,Wis 7:15Wis 7:16¹⁶ For in his hand are both we and our words;Wis 7:16Wis 7:17¹⁷ For he hath given me certain knowledge of the things that are,Wis 7:17Wis 7:18¹⁸ The beginning, ending, and midst of the times:Wis 7:18Wis 7:19¹⁹ The circuits of years, and positions of stars:Wis 7:19Wis 7:20²⁰ The natures of living creatures, and the furies of wild beasts:Wis 7:20Wis 7:21²¹ And all such things as are either secret or manifest, [them] I know.Wis 7:21Wis 7:22²² For wisdom, which is the worker of all things, taught me:Wis 7:22Wis 7:23²³ kind to man,Wis 7:23Wis 7:24²⁴ For wisdom is more moving than any motion:Wis 7:24Wis 7:25²⁵ For she is the breath of the power of God,Wis 7:25Wis 7:26²⁶ For she is the brightness of the everlasting light,Wis 7:26Wis 7:27²⁷ And being but one, she can do all things:Wis 7:27Wis 7:28²⁸ For God loveth none but him that dwelleth with wisdom.Wis 7:28Wis 7:29²⁹ For she is more beautiful than the sun,Wis 7:29Wis 7:30³⁰ For after this cometh night:Wis 7:30← Chapter 6Chapter 8 →
