Wisdom of Solomon

Chapter 9

Wisdom of Solomon · King Solomon

¹ O God of my fathers, and Lord of mercy,

Wis 9:1

² And ordained man through thy wisdom,

Wis 9:2

³ And order the world according to equity and righteousness,

Wis 9:3

⁴ Give me wisdom, that sitteth by thy throne;

Wis 9:4

⁵ For I thy servant and son of thy handmaid

Wis 9:5

⁶ For though a man be never so perfect among the children of men,

Wis 9:6

⁷ Thou hast chosen me to be a king of thy people,

Wis 9:7

⁸ Thou hast commanded me to build a temple upon thy holy mount,

Wis 9:8

⁹ And wisdom was with thee: which knoweth thy works,

Wis 9:9

¹⁰ O send her out of thy holy heavens,

Wis 9:10

¹¹ For she knoweth and understandeth all things,

Wis 9:11

¹² So shall my works be acceptable,

Wis 9:12

¹³ For what man is he that can know the counsel of God?

Wis 9:13

¹⁴ For the thoughts of mortal men are miserable,

Wis 9:14

¹⁵ For the corruptible body presseth down the soul,

Wis 9:15

¹⁶ And hardly do we guess aright at things that are upon earth,

Wis 9:16

¹⁷ And thy counsel who hath known, except thou give wisdom,

Wis 9:17

¹⁸ For so the ways of them which lived on the earth were reformed,

Wis 9:18
